Zooey Deschanel. But, but, but I love you MORE!
Rob's little indie music/movie heart broke just a little bit more with the news that the great Zooey Deschanel is engaged to be married. Fuck my life.
But in a classic "is this a silver lining or not?" follow-up, she's engaged to Death Cab for Cutie/The Postal Service front man Ben Gibbard. Take a look at this guy.
Don't get me wrong. Ben Gibbard has some definite music cred. Death Cab isn't as good as they used to be, but Gibbard is a well-respected musician. But look at this guy. Ben Gibbard is a bit of a round-faced dork. This either A) makes me lament that the world is losing Zooey Deschanel to this guy or B) makes me think that us normal-looking guys have a shot at the hot. I'm still carefully considering my feelings on this. Please feel free to weigh in. Oh well. At least she's marrying Ben Gibbard as opposed to some douchebag like Jared Leto or any number of emo/screamo douchebag rockers.
Zooey Deschanel is a recent addition to Rob's Playground of the Mind. She's an excellent film actress who I completely fell for in the recently NetFlix'd The Go-Getter starring her, Lou Taylor Pucci, and the always excellent Jena Malone. She's also featured in the recently released Jim Carrey flick Yes Man which I have yet to check out. Also, she's one half of the indie-folk duo of She & Him along with M. Ward. I purchased their debut album only very recently and was surprised at how good it is. I'm always skeptical of actors turned musicians, but one listen to the record and it becomes obvious pretty quick that Zooey Deschanel is both a quality singer and musician. Apparently, she's been performing musically for years, but only recently decided to create a proper recording through the prompting of M. Ward. Did I link this post into oblivian? Gosh, I hope so.
