Starting Over

Everyone,

I'm single again. I am no longer engaged. I broke it off early this morning. And I did it because I love her and I need her in my life. She's my best friend. We both don't know what we want. And if we'd stayed engaged, we would have ended up resenting each other. Now is not the time for us. If we're meant to be together, we will be. But not now. I had to take control of the situation so that I could save our friendship because that truly is the most important thing to me. It will take some time to adjust to things, but we'll be okay. We got off the phone both feeling relieved and caring for each other more. We're going to have dinner and drinks tomorrow. So don't worry about me. It'll be alright. I may need to lean on you all from time to time over the next few months, so I warn you now. But overall, things should be much better for me and her. We still have the love that friendship grants and that is more valuable to me than anything in the world. It was the hardest and best thing I've done in a long, long time. Love you, Guys.

She is a lucky person to have you as her friend...a friendship like this comes along once in a lifetime and you are smart to save that above all. I honestly believe that everything happens for a reason and while it may not be clear right now, somewhere down the road you'll see this was exactly what needed to happen at this moment. Don't go through this alone though...you know that you have a life full of people who will always, always be here for you. Love you!

"To every man there openeth
A way, and ways and a WAY.
And the high soul takes the high way
And the low soul gropes the low;
And in between, on the misty flats,
The rest drift to and fro,
But to every man there openeth
A high way and a low.
And every man decideth
The way his soul shall go."
